ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team, the 2019 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Champions, is expected to repeat as conference champions according to the Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced on Tuesday.
The Lions earned the top spot in the preseason rankings after winning the AMCC regular-season championship with an undefeated 10-0 record and claiming the AMCC Title two years ago. The 2020 season was canceled due to Covid-19.
Senior middle hitter Kristin Reiland (Fairview, PA/Villa Maria Academy) was named AMCC Preseason Player of the Year. Reiland was a First Team All-AMCC selection and Player of the Year in 2019. She was second in the AMCC in aces (51), third in total kills (314), fourth in kills per set (2.96) and seventh in attack percentage (.229)
The Pitt-Bradford Panthers were selected to finish second, while Penn State Altoona was picked third.
