Lions Head to NCAA Regionals

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Dickinson on Saturday for the NCAA Regionals. The Lions are looking to improve from last season where the men took 19th place out of 54 teams and the women placed 17th out of 48 teams.

The men dominated the 2014 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship meet, earning a perfect team score of 15. The Lions placed the top five runners, and seven in the top 12. Seven Behrend runners earned All-Conference honors and head coach Greg Cooper was named AMCC Coach of the Year.

Devin Beggs (Franklin, PA/Franklin) is fresh off an AMCC Championship victory, winning the meet at Franciscan. Beggs was named AMCC Runner of the Year and has been the leader for the Lions squad all season.

Dylan Buffington (Brookville, PA/Brookville) earned Freshman of the Year honors after finishing as the top freshman in five of seven races this season. Buffington took fourth place in the AMCC championship event and led Behrend in two events this season.

The women's cross country team finished third at the Conference Championship, and had two runners named to the All-Conference squad.

Katie Manno (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Abby Gilmore (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) earned All-Conference honors after second and 14th-place finishes respectively.

The NCAA Regionals take place this Saturday at Dickinson. The start time is set for 11 a.m.
