Women's Cross Country Announces Team Awards

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's cross country squad announced their team award winners for the 2014 season, voted on by members of the team.

Katie Manno (Erie, PA/McDowell) earned the MVP award after being selected to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) All-Conference Team for the second straight year. Manno tallied a second-place finish at the conference championship and led the Lions in five out of eight races this season.

Catherine Fox (Fairview, PA/Fairview) was selected the team's Rookie of the Year. The freshman was shy two places of earning All-Conference honors at the AMCC Championship meet and had strong outings at the Allegheny and Behrend Invitational's.

The Sportsmanship/Leadership Award went to Miranda Boatman (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte). The junior led Behrend at the Franciscan Invitational and was second on the squad on two separate occasions. Her leadership helped guide the Lions all season.

Abby Gilmore (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) was tabbed as the Most Improved Runner. Gilmore earned her first All-Conference selection with a 14th-place finish at the conference championships. She greatly improved throughout the season, recording her top times in her final three races.

All four award winners return for next season as the Lions will search for the program's sixth AMCC Title.
