ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team was picked to first in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) coaches' preseason poll. The Lions are looking to capture their fourth straight AMCC title in 2011.
Senior Ryan Zamiskie was named Preseason Pitcher of the Year after earning All-Conference first-team honors last season. He registered a 7-1 mark along with four saves, while recording a 1.50 ERA to rank third nationally. In his 17 appearances, Zamiskie tallied 50 strikeouts in 54 innings. He also led the conference in ERA, appearances, saves, fewest runs and earned runs.
Mt. Aloysius was picked second and Penn State Altoona was voted for the third spot.
Behrend posted a 5-3 record over Spring Break and returns to action on Saturday at Waynesburg. The doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
