Bittner Earns All-Region Honors

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend third baseman Matt Bittner has been named to the 2011 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Mid-Atlantic All-Region team. The sophomore is earning his first all-region honors with a spot on the third team.

Bittner, who was named to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) third team, led the league in RBIs with 51 and ranked third in hits (58). He finished the season with a .403 batting average for third overall and eighth in the conference. Bittner had the fifth best slugging percentage in the AMCC with .604. During the season, he received AMCC Athlete of the Week and NCBWA Division III National Player of the Week for leading the Lions to four wins and smacking three home runs, while batting .625.

Behrend finished the season with a 28-13 mark and runners-up in the ECAC South Region Tournament.
