Lions Fall To Fredonia, 12-1

FREDONIA, NY – The Penn State Behrend baseball team struggled at Fredonia State in a nine inning, 12-1 non-conference loss, Thursday.

The Lions (17-8, 9-3 AMCC) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second with Blake Pavlik scoring on an error by the third baseman. The Blue Devils (13-15) would respond two innings later, taking a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth. Fredonia racked up five runs in the fifth in route to a 12-1 win over Behrend.

Pavlik posted two of the Lions five hits on the day, each time reaching base on a single.

Shane Stauffer pitched 4.1 innings, while giving up five runs, four earned. The rookie hurler struck out three batters and walked three in the loss.

Behrend cleared the bench as all 20 players got a chance to showcase their stuff in the game.

The Lions April 22nd doubleheader against Pitt-Bradford is postponed due to field conditions. Behrend is scheduled to play La Roche at home on April 23 before hosting the second game of the Lions-Fredonia series on Monday, April 25.
