Lions Pick Up Two Key AMCC Victories Over Medaille

ERIE, Pa. – Geoff Lang went 6-for-9 including two triples and a homerun to edge Penn State Behrend over Medaille, Wednesday in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action, 12-3 and 10-6.

In game one, a high scoring first inning was started off by a Lang triple. Lang would eventually score thanks to Matt Bittner's two-run homer over the leftfield wall.  A couple batters later, the Lions went yard again, this time on a solo shot by Bukowski, 5-0.

Behrend returned to the scoreboard in the second, posting two more runs thanks to RBI singles by Lang and Bittner, 7-0.

Ryan Zamiskie gave up three runs to the Mavericks (15-10, 7-5 AMCC) in the third inning, 7-3. Medaille's comeback was halted in the fourth when Zamiskie returned to the mound and recorded two of his eight strikeouts en route to a 12-3 win.

Lang went 4-for-5 with five RBIs, while Zamiskie pitched a complete game allowing three runs on four hits in the game one victory.

Game two started where game one left off, more Behrend runs. The Lions (19-9, 11-4 AMCC) scored four times in the first inning and were helped out thanks to RBIs by Blake Pavlik, Harry Latta, and Bittner, 4-0.

Medaille would respond much quicker in game two. The Mavs (15-11, 7-6 AMCC) tallied two runs in the first inning to cut the Behrend lead in half, 4-2.

The Lions, helped out by Lang's homerun, returned to tack on three additional runs to the scoreboard in the third, 7-2.

Behrend's pitching staff limited the Mavericks to four runs in the remainder of the game. The men went on to win, 10-6.

Geoff Lang tied the Behrend and AMCC record for triples hit in a season (8), while Pavlik and Bittner each hit 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the game two win.

Jay Condit earned the win for Lions, going 3.2 innings allowing four hits, while sitting down three batters after replacing Andy Kountz who threw for 3.1 innings. The senior struck out two batters, walked two, and gave up six runs.
