ERIE, Pa. – Joe Paterniti has been named to the prestigious Capital One Academic All-District II baseball team, Friday.
Paterniti, a second-team choice, defines the true meaning of a student-athlete. He is enrolled in Behrend's marketing program where he boasts a 3.97 grade-point average. On the diamond, he has started in 24 games for the Lions (21-10, 13-5 AMCC), who are looking to extend their season Saturday, while taking on Pitt-Greensburg in the first round of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference playoffs. The junior second baseman is batting .250, and has scored 17 runs while going a perfect 4-for-4 in steals on the season.
The five-time dean's list honoree has picked up numerous academic awards including Behrend's Outstanding First-Year Student Award and The President's Award. Paterniti, who is also on the AMCC All-Academic team, is an active member in the National Leadership Honor Society, Omicron Delta Kappa.
