Men's Swimming and Diving Begins Season at First Splash Meet

GROVE CITY – The Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team competed at Grove City to start the 2023-24 season on Saturday.

* Jacob Earley (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) won two events for the Lions
* Early was the one-meter diving winner with a score of 184.81
* Early also won the three-meter diving event (172.81)
* Tim Compton (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) won the 500 free (5:04.68) and placed second in four events
* Compton was second in the 200 free (1:49.91), the 100 fly (54.55) and the 100 breaststroke (1:03.29)
* Compton also swam on a pair of relays that took second and third
* Anthony Tumino (Hershey, PA/Hershey) led off the second-place 200 medley relay, followed by Will Perham (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair), Compton and Dan Tanaskovic (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley)
* The foursome clocked in at 1:35.71
* Jax Abele, Tanaskovic, Compton and Tumino made up the third-place 200 free relay (1:30.42)
* Perham touched first in the 100 breaststroke with a winning time of 1:02.17 and was third in the 500 free (5:14.14)
* Tanasovic led Behrend in the 50 free (22.37) for second, while Glenn Fowkes (Vandergrift, PA/Kiski Area) was second in the 200 back (2:09.54)
* Placing in the top three in the 200 fly was Ronan Murphy (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia)
* Murphy swam 2:22.13 for third overall
* Tumino had the top time for the Lions I the 100 backstroke, taking third in 56.68
