Men's Swimming and Diving Takes Back AMCC Championship

ROCHESTER, NY – The Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team won their 15th Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship held in conjunction with the Allegheny Empire Championships on Saturday night.

Combined Men's Scores: 1. Hartwick (988), 2. Penn State Behrend (977.50), 3. Alfred (907), 4. Alfred State (898), 5. Penn State Altoona (566.50), 6. Nazareth (565), 7. Pitt-Bradford (326), 8. Wells (5)

Noteworthy:

* The Behrend Lions added 300 points to their total after day three to put them 10.5 points shy of winning both championships
* Tim Compton (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) was named the AMCC Swimmer of the Meet for the second time in his career
* Compton and Will Perham (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) each set a new team record, AMCC Open record and AMCC Meet record in their respective events
* Compton was the AMCC Champion in the 200 butterfly and second overall with a record time of 1:51.73
* Perham repeated as the AMCC Champion in the 200 breaststroke, while breaking three records with a time of 2:03.98
* Anthony Tumino (Hershey, PA/Hershey) was the third AMCC Champion on the night
* Tumino came in first in the AMCC and overall in the 200 backstroke for his first title in this event (1:53.66)
* Glenn Fowkes (Vandergrift, PA/Kiski Area) followed Tumino in the 200 backstroke for second place in 1:54.22
* Tumino, Jax Abele (Erie, PA/Iroquois), Dan Tanaskovic (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley) collected the fourth win in the final relay of the championships
* The foursome clocked in at 3:09.79 for the win in the AMCC and overall
* Abele led the Lions in the 100 free with a fifth-place finish (48.44), while Alexander Kremlin (Dublin, OH/Dublin Jerome) was third in the AMCC and fifth overall in the 1650 free (16:52.17)
