Tumino Resets Team Record; Lions in Second Place at Allegheny Empire Championships

ROCHESTER, NY – Anthony Tumino (Hershey, PA/Hershey) broke the team record in the 50 free to lead the Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team on day two of the 2024 Allegheny Empire Championships on Thursday.

Combined Men's Scores: 1. Hartwick (374), 2. Penn State Behrend (354.50), 3. Alfred State (344), 4. Alfred (327.50), 5. Penn State Altoona (228), 6. Nazareth (212), 7. Pitt-Bradford (138), 8. Wells (NTS)

Noteworthy:

* Tumino, who was the runner up in the 50 free last season, claimed the individual title in the finals with a time of 20.95 to reset his old team record
* Tumino set it first in the preliminaries and then set it again in the finals
* Tim Compton (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny), the two-time defending AMCC champion in the 500 free, earned his third title tonight
* Compton won the preliminaries and then clocked in with a winning time of 4:37.40 in the finals
* Will Perham (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) was also an individual champion, claiming the 200 IM
* Perham clocked in with a time of 1:56.63 for first in the AMCC and third oveall
* The 200 yard freestyle relay consisting of Tumino, Jax Abele (Erie, PA/Iroquois), Dan Tanaskovic (Monaca, PA/Central Valley) and Evan Del Signore (Trafford, PA/Penn Trafford) won the event overall and for the AMCC with a time of 1:25.48
