Track and Field Continues Competition at ECAC's

New York, N.Y. - The Penn State Behrend men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up ECAC competition Saturday with six athletes competing in three different events. The Lions placed 15th out of 87 teams at the event.

Kevin Gardner (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) qualified for NCAA competition in the high jump with a second place finish and became the first ever Behrend high jumper to eclipse a mark over 6' 9.5". Gardner will have an opportunity to compete at NCAA's next weekend North Carolina.

The 4x800 team consisting of Dylan Buffington, (Brookville, PA/Brookville) Alan Yocca, (Plum, PA/Plum) Devin Beggs (Franklin, PA/Franklin) and Josh Natalie (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy-Strong Vincent) earned a third place finish tallying a time of 7:50.70. That mark was a new indoor and outdoor school record

Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) was a bright spot taking ninth place in the 200m dash. Allen sprinted her way to a finishing time of 25.56.

Aside from Gardner, the indoor season has come to a close. The outdoor season will begin March 21 when both the men's and women's team travel to the California University of Pennsylvania Invitational. Event will begin at 10 a.m.
