Behrend Men's Volleyball Announces 2020 Team Awards

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team announced their team awards for the truncated 2020 season as voted on by the members of the team.

The Most Valuable Player was awarded to senior outside hitter Dillon Hildebrand (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion).  Hildebrand, the 2020 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Preseason Player of the Year, has led the team offensively in the 17 matches played. He is first in kills (207), service aces (23) and in points per set (4.0). Hildebrand reached 1,000 kills this season and currently sits at 1,110. He ranks third in the AMCC in aces per set (.38) and is fourth in kills per set (3.45).

Adrian Martinez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) was selected Rookie of the Year. The freshman was the starting libero for the Lions. Martinez played in all 17 matches and all but one set. He was first on the team in digs with 134 and ranked ninth in the AMCC in digs per set (2.20).

Marcello Frollo (Penn Hills, PA/Penn Hills) earned the Leadership Award for the 2020 season. The senior defensive specialist is an instrumental leader on and off the court for Behrend. Last season, he was awarded the Behrend Spirit Award voted on by the athletics department.

The Most Improved Award goes to sophomore John Cageao (Beaver, PA/Lincoln Park Performing Arts). The outside hitter is ranked fourth in the AMCC in hitting percentage (.281) in 15 matches played, more than double the number of matches from his freshman year. Cageao has tallied 61 kills, fifth on the team, 21 blocks and 21 digs this season.
