Lions Men's Volleyball Drop Five-Set Match to Buffalo State

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State men's volleyball team posted a 3-2 decision over Penn State Behrend men's volleyball in non-conference action on Wednesday night.

Score: Buffalo State 3, Penn State Behrend 2 (25-20, 25-16, 25-21, 25-22, 15-6)
Records:  Penn State Behrend (1-6), Buffalo State (1-2)

* The Bengals got their first win in program history in dramatic fashion
* Buffalo State, competing in its inaugural season, took a two set lead and then won the final set 15-6
* The Bengals held a 7-1 advantage in kills in the fifth set
* The Lions fought back from a two-set deficit to win the third set 25-21 and the fourth 25-22
* Overall, Buffalo State managed 64 kills and held Behrend to 35 kills
* Kyle Hoffman (Carlton, PA/Cochranton) led with eight kills and eight digs
* Caden Mealy (Meadville, PA/Meadville) tallied a career highs 14 assists and eight digs while adding two kills

* In the third set tied at 19-all, the Lion used three kills and took advantage of three errors by Buffalo State to cut the lead to 2-1 in the match
* The fourth set was closer than the third down the stretch with Behrend forcing two attack and one service error for their final three points to win 25-22
* The Bengals jumped out to a 7-1 lead and did not look back for the win in the fifth
