Men's Volleyball Falls to Eastern Mennonite, Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team dropped two non-conference matches to Eastern Mennonite (3-0) and Wittenberg (3-1) on Saturday afternoon.  

Match One:
Score:
Eastern Mennonite 3, Penn State Behrend 0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-16)
Records: Penn State Behrend (1-6), Eastern Mennonite (6-4)

Key Moments:

* The Lions dropped the first two sets by three points each
* Behrend held a 13-9 advantage in kills in the first, where the Lions had a five-point lead
* The Royals used a 12-6 run to take the lead for good at 17-16
* In the second set, Behrend had a 22-20 edge and Eastern Mennonite closed out with five straight points for a 2-0 lead in the match
* The Royals never trailed in the third for the sweep (25-16)
* Cameron Schleicher (Meadville, PA/Meadville) tallied a team-best eight kills and eight digs
* Alex Jackson (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) managed 24 assists on 36 kills
* Owen Wienczkowski (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBeouf) registered seven kills, and two block assists

Wittenberg 3, Penn State Behrend 1 (25-12, 25-22, 24-26, 25-22)
Records: Penn State Behrend (1-7), Wittenberg (2-5)

Key Moments:

* After falling behind two sets, the Lions won the third set in extra points at 26-24
* Behrend had set point at 24-23 after a Wienczkowski kill but the Tigers responded with a kill to even it at 24
* Wittenberg had a service error followed by an attack error to give the Lions a two-point win
* The fourth set was tied 13 times, before the Tigers broke a 22-all deadlock with three straight kills to win the match
* Behrend hit .290 with 11 kills on 31 attempts with two errors in the fourth set
* Wienczkowski added eight kills, four block assists and two digs
* Logan Hering (North East, PA/North East) also had eight kills and five digs
* Schleicher led the team with 10 digs and Jackson finished with 17 assists
* The Lions held an 8-2 advantage in blocks
