Erie, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team defeated Buffalo State 3-0 before falling to Trine in three sets in a non-conference tri-match on Saturday in the Junker Center.   

Match One:
Score:
Penn State Behrend 3, Buffalo State 0 (27-25, 25-22, 25-18)
Records: Penn State Behrend (3-8), Buffalo State (6-5)

Key Moments:

* The Lions avenged a 3-2 loss to the Bengals earlier this season with the sweep
* Kyle Hoffman (Carlton, PA/Cochranton) led with 10 kills, five digs and four block assists
* Alex Jackson (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) registered 29 assists and six kills
* Behrend won the first set in extra points after five lead changes and 15 ties
* With set point twice, at 25-all the Lions took advantage of two errors for a 27-25 win
* Hoffman and Logan Hering (North East, PA/North East) each had four kills in the first set
* In the final two sets, Behrend never trailed
* The Lions had six kills in their final seven points of the second set to win 25-22
* Behrend jumped out to an eight-point lead at 18-10 and kept a comfortable lead until the end for a 25-18 decision
* Hering finished with seven kills, five digs, two assists and two aces
* Owen Wienczkowski (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBeouf) posted eight kills and five blocks assists

Key Moments:

* Luke Mumpower (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) had a career-high 10 digs, while Lewis Rhodes (Reston, VA/South Lakes) tallied seven block assists and four kills
* Jackson tallied 15 assists and two block assists
* Wienczkowski led with seven kills behind a .429 attack percentage
* Logan Hering (North East, PA/North East) registered eight digs, three blocks and two aces
* Schleicher led the team with 10 digs and Jackson finished with 17 assists
* Tied at 15-all in the first set, Trine won back-to-back points to stay ahead in the set
* Trine took a two-set lead but the Lions tied the third set at 18-all to try and force a fourth
* The Thunder won the next seven out of nine points to win in three
