Lions Fall to Wisconsin-Stout at Music City Classic

NASHVILLE, TN – Wisconsin-Stout women's basketball team had three players in double figures and scored 33 points off turnovers to defeat Penn State Behrend 79-61 in the first game of the Music City Classic in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday night.

Jenna Goldsmith led with a game-high 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Kyleigh Hebert added 15 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Blue Devils.

Dani Reinwald (Clymer, NY/Clymer Central) impressed with her sixth straight and eighth overall double-double this season with a team-best 19 points and 11 rebounds, also shooting 8-for-11 from the field for the Lions (4-5).

Wisconsin-Stout opened the first quarter with a quick 13-3 lead behind six points from Goldsmith and five from Shannan Watkins. An Ali Goetz (Mars, PA/Mars) three pointer sparked a 9-2 run by Behrend to cut the lead to 15-12.

In the final three minutes of the opening stanza, the Blue Devils held the Lions to just three points and regained the double-digit lead at 26-15 heading into second quarter.

Wisconsin-Stout maintained a comfortable lead through the remaining three quarters and held its largest advantage of 27 points in the fourth period.

The Blue Devils scored 54 of their 79 points in the paint, including 26 on fast-break buckets.

Heidi Langhorst (Corapolis, PA/Our Lady Sacred Heart) tallied 10 points, while Goetz contributed eight points and six boards.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow against Whitman for its second game of the Music City Classic. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
