Women's Basketball All-Conference Announced; Slater Selected Coach of the Year

ERIE, Pa. – Freshman forward Ali Goetz (Mars, PA/Mars) has been named the 2016 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Newcomer of the Year and Christine Slater earned Coach of the Year honors, announced on Tuesday.

Goetz was the only freshman on the All-AMCC list, receiving a spot on the third team. In addition, sophomore forward Dani Reinwald (Clymer, NY/Clymer) was selected to the first team and sophomore guard Erika Woll (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) was named to the third team. Slater turned a 6-19 team her first season to a 15-11 squad that returned to the AMCC playoffs for the first time in two years at the No. 2 seed.

Reinwald, the 2013-14 AMCC Newcomer of the Year, was chosen to the first team in her first season with the Lions. Reinwald leads the conference in rebounds (304) and is second in blocks (70). The sophomore averages a double-double with 12.9 points and 11.7 rebounds. Reinwald has recorded 17 double-doubles this season to rank 13th in Division III statistics. She is also 27th in blocked shots. Reinwald's 304 rebounds is the second most in program history in a season. She led the team in scoring in nine games and rebounding in 21 out of 26 contests. Reinwald posted a season-high 22 points and 17 points in the win over Medaille.

Woll is earning her first All-Conference accolades on the third team. The sophomore led the team in assists (70) and steals (67), while ranking second in scoring with 10.7 points per game. She drained 31 three-pointers for the team lead, including a career-high five in the win over Penn State Altoona. Woll also started every game and averaged 35.4 minutes per game.

It only Goetz two games to earn a spot in the starting lineup for the remainder of the season. The newcomer was third on the team with 9.4 points per game and was fourth with 4.5 rebounds per game. Goetz had the best percentage from the free-throw line (.765) and scored double-digits in 11 contests, registering the best performance on the team this season with 23 points against Franciscan.
