Women's Basketball Completes Weekend Sweep

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team scored half their points in the paint, getting a team-best 14 points from sophomore forward Dani Reinwald (Clymer, NY/Clymer Central), to defeat Pitt-Greensburg 61-54 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Sunday.

The Lions (6-7, 4-2 AMCC) snapped a four-game skid against the Bobcats (4-8, 3-3 AMCC) while posting their second straight win at home. Erika Woll (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) was the second player in double digits with 13 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals.

Emily Nelson shot 9-for-14 from the floor for a game-high 23 points to lead Pitt-Greensburg.

Behrend took a seven-point lead at halftime and turned it into double digits by the end of the third and held off a surging Bobcat for the victory.

With 3:24 left in the second quarter, Nelson made a three-point shot for Pitt-Greensburg's last lead of the game at 27-26. The Lions responded with an 8-0 run to end the period behind a non-tradition three-point play by Rachael Razzano (New Castle, PA/New Castle), a trey by Ali Goetz (Mars, PA/Mars) and a jumper by Woll for a 34-27 advantage.

Behrend took a double-digit lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 16-12 for a 50-39 lead heading into the final quarter.

Pitt-Greensburg opened the fourth on a 10-1 run to pull within two after a Casey Hamilton layup with 5:16 remaining. Down the stretch, Heidi Langhorst (Corapolis, PA/Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) had two consecutive blocks and the offense came up with key rebounds, while Razzano and Woll each made two free throws in the final 35 seconds to help the Lions hold on.

Behrend continues to dominate the boards, outrebounding the Bobcats 45-34.

Lions return to action on Wednesday against Medaille. Game time is 8 p.m.
