Reinwald Leads Women's Basketball Past Medaille

ERIE, Pa. – Dani Reinwald (Clymer, NY/Clymer Central) scored 10 of her game-high 18 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Penn State Behrend women's basketball team past Medaille 63-53 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Wednesday night.

Sadie Zielinski (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) hit the go-ahead jumper with 1:48 remaining in the game to make it 53-51, Reinwald went a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line, while the defense made three stops in the final 1:21 of the game to secure the Lions (12-10, 10-5 AMCC) third straight conference victory.

Reinwald finished with her 14th double-double of the season with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Erika Woll (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) and Ali Goetz (Mars, PA/Mars) each added 13 points.

Kelli McCauley led the Mavericks (4-18, 3-12 AMCC) with 14 points and six rebounds.

Sparked by Woll's eight points in the first quarter and pair of three-pointers, Behrend grabbed an early 22-17 lead after the opening period. One point separated the two teams in the second quarter, leaving the Lions with a four-point edge at halftime (35-31).

A defensive third quarter with a combined four field goals, led to Medaille getting its largest lead at 42-39 with 35 seconds left. Reinwald warmed up from the charity stripe with time expiring in the third with a pair of shots to close the gap to 42-41.

The Lions held a five-point lead early in the fourth quarter, but a quick 5-0 run by the Mavericks ending with a Marceann Dunning triple knotted the game at 51-all with 2:57 left to play.

Zielinski, who finished with season-high nine points, drained a jumper on a pass from Woll and Reinwald followed with clutch performance from the line.

Reinwald matched a season high with six blocks and Glenn Fontaine (West Sunbury, PA/Moniteau) tallied nine boards in the win.
