Women's Basketball Geared Up for AMCC Semifinals

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team will be making its 17th appearance in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament when they travel to La Roche for the semifinals on Saturday.

The Lions (15-10, 13-5 AMCC) earned the No. 2 seed after finishing tied for eighth place last season. Behrend will battle the winner of the first-round game between No. 3 Pitt-Bradford (16-9, 12-6 AMCC) and No. 6 Pitt-Greensburg (10-15, 8-10 AMCC) at 3:30 p.m. The No. 1 seed La Roche will await the winner of No. 4 D'Youville (12-13, 9-9 AMCC) and No. 5 Mt. Aloysius (12-13, 9-9 AMCC) in the first semifinal at 1 p.m.

The two semifinal winners will meet on Sunday at 1 p.m. at La Roche. The tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Behrend is looking for its third conference championship and first since the 2003-04 season. The Lions have advanced to eight title games since the inception of the AMCC back in 1997. Behrend enters the playoffs with a six-game winning streak, completing the sweep of Pitt-Greensburg along the way. The Lions are 0-2 against the Panthers, falling 53-46 and 69-66 on a buzzer beater during the regular season.
