Scoring Frenzy Lifts Women's Soccer Past Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa. – Eight different players scored to lead the Penn State Behrend women's soccer team past Penn State Altoona 11-1 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday.

The win marks the Lions (9-4, 4-0 AMCC) fifth in a row and fourth straight conference victory. Behrend also recorded its most offensive output this season and against Altoona (4-9, 2-3 AMCC), scoring four goals in the first half and seven in the second.

Jordan Oberlander (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf), Amanda Donohue (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) and Nicole Evans (South Park, PA/Sourth Park) each tallied a pair of goals. Oberlander also added an assist for five points on the day and Olivia Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) dished out two assists.

Shoshana Mahoney recorded the lone goal for Altoona.

Lexie Frank (Harrisburg, PA/Blackhawk) and Sami Lowry (Pittsburgh, PA/Pine-Richland) connected on the first goal at the 28:06 mark. She beat Sydney Emershaw from 15 yards out and tucked her shot away for a 1-0 lead.

Evans made it 2-0 less than five minutes later with an unassisted goal, scoring in the top right corner.

The Altoona Lions cut the lead to one with Mahoney's goal in the 39th minute, but Evans struck back for her second of the day with another unassisted tally 30 seconds later.

Ashlyn Whipple (Washington, PA/Canon McMillan) netted the final goal of the first half with five minutes to spare off pass from Lydia McCaleb (Loganton, PA/Central Mountain). She floated a shot into the top left corner for a 4-1 halftime lead.

In the second half, Oberlander and Donohue scored back-to-back goals for an 8-1 advantage. Oberlander had two quick goals and then Donohue followed with a pair all within 10 minutes.

Cassidy Ulanowicz and Kayla Williams tallied their first collegiate goals in the 71st and 78th minute respectively, while Angela Baranowski (Nazareth, Pa/Nazareth) registered her first goal of the season to cap the scoring for the Lions.

Ania Gorski (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) made three saves for the win in between the pipes.

Behrend returns to action on Tuesday against Hilbert. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
