Eight Named Track and Field All-Region

ERIE, Pa. – Seven members of the Penn State Behrend men's track and field team and one women's runner were named Division III All-Region, announced on Monday.

To be named All-Region, the athlete must be ranked in the top-5 of an individual event or a top-3 relay team.

The lone woman to earn the award was junior Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler). She was All-Midwest Region in the 60m as well as the 200m.

Mitchell Obenrader (Fryburg, PA/North Clarion) was the only Lion All-Region honoree to qualify for the NCAA Championships this indoor season.  His school-record shot put of 54' 10.25" ranks him eighth in Division III.

With their second-place ECAC finish, the DMR relay team of Dylan Buffington (Brookville, PA/Brookville), Matt McWilliams (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf), Josh Natalie (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy-Strong Vincent) and Matthew Grafton (Worthington, PA/Kittanning) we each named All-Region.

The final two All-Region nominees were Kevin Gardner (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) and Luke Patten (West Middlesex, PA/West Middlesex). Gardner was recognized for his high jump performance and Patten was awarded the honor in the pole vault.

Obenrader travels to the NCAA Championships in Grinell, IA while the rest of the team competes at the Costal Carolina Invitational in Conway, SC next weekend.
