Men's Track and Field Ranked 34th Nationally

ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team finished week one of the season ranked 34th in the nation as a team with 38.86 points, announced on Tuesday.

This early season ranking is the first time in team history that the Lions have been ranked nationally. The current week one rankings are based on last year's finishing times/distances and last week's events.

Individuals earn points based on their national rankings in each event, and the individual points are then summed to tally a team score in which the rankings are based.

Mitchell Obenrader (Fryburg, PA/North Clarion) is pacing the squad, collecting 36.99 points with his second-ranked javelin distance of 215' 4" and fourth-ranked shot put heave of 56'. Kevin Gardner (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf), Luke Patten (West Middlesex, PA/West Middlesex) and Matthew Grafton (Worthington, PA/Kittanning) are also receiving points for Behrend.
