ERIE, Pa. – Seven members of the Penn State Behrend men’s water polo team were recognized by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-Academic list and the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Men's Varsity Scholar-Athlete Team.
Victor Nguyen (San Jose, CA/Evergreen Valley) was honored on the outstanding level. Jake DesRoches (Fairfax, VA/WT Woodson) and Ty Elder (Brentwood, CA/Heritage) were both named on the superior level. Hunter Backenstose (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East), Ted Dean (Ramona, CA/Ramona), Aaron Figurski (Erie, PA/McDowell), and Matthew Johnson (Houston, TX/Cypress Falls) rounded out the Lions who received the award, each with a spot on the excellent level.
The All-Academic list includes those athletes from Division I, II, III, and NAIA. The three levels of outstanding, superior and excellent are based on grade point averages of 3.71-4.00, 3.41-3.70, and 3.20-3.40, respectively.
