Grove City Too Much For Women’s Water Polo

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team fell to Grove City 22-3 on Saturday evening.

The Lions (0-2) fell behind early and could not generate enough offense to catch the Wolverines.

Grove City jumped out to an 8-2 lead after one quarter, and increased the advantage to 12-2 at the break.  Behrend's offense went cold in the second and third quarters, and netted just one fourth-quarter goal.

MaryEllen Spooner (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) led the offense with two goals.  She also drew three kickouts.  Mary Therese Causgrove (Erie, PA/McDowell) netted her first collegiate goal for the Lions on a penalty shot to go with four steals.

Elizabeth Causgrove (Erie, PA/McDowell) made six saves in net and tallied four steals.

Behrend will be back in action on Wednesday, March 13th.  The Lions will play Notre Dame College in their home opener at 5 p.m.
