ERIE, Pa. – Graduated senior MaryEllen Spooner (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) has been named a 2013 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Division III All-American.

Spooner was one of seven players selected to the second team to become the program’s first-ever women’s water polo player to receive an All-America status higher than honorable mention. This is Spooner’s fourth time being chosen as an All-American. She was named an Honorable Mention her first three seasons.

She was also named to the CWPA Division III All-Conference team and earned Behrend’s Female Athlete of the Year award earlier in the year. This past season, she led the Lions in goals (40), drawn kickouts (30), and field blocks (12). Spooner also broke the program’s record for goals and drawn kickouts, finishing her career with 146 and 110, respectively.
