ERIE, Pa. – Three Penn State Behrend student-athletes were named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week, announced on Monday.
The Lions swept the men’s swimming and diving honors. Dan Simon (Harrison City, PA/Penn Trafford) was named Swimmer of the Week for winning three times on Saturday. He touched first in the 100 back (53.45) and 50 free (22.43) in season-best times, while swimming a leg on the winning 400 free relay.
For the third time this season, Andrew Neder (Erie, PA/Fairview) tabbed Diver of the Week accolades. The sophomore tallied a season-best score of 212.60 in the 1-meter for five dives and also won the 1 meter for six dives with a 128.80 total.
Nick DeLisio (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley) earned Player of the Week for men’s basketball. The sophomore helped the Lions capture the Behrend Tip-Off Tournament, averaging 19.5 points and 4.0 assists in two wins. DeLisio shot 81.2 percent from the floor and almost 78 percent from behind the arc. His 21-point performance in the semifinals was a game and career high. For his efforts, he was named the tournament MVP.
