ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women’s swimming and diving team along with Meghan Wade (Berea, OH/Berea) and two members of the men’s swimming and diving team have been honored by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), announced on Tuesday.
The women’s squad was presented with the Team Scholar All-America award, given to the college/university who has achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. As a team, the women combined for a 3.11 GPA. Wade, Clay Altemose (Apollo, PA/Apollo-Ridge) and Everett Sargent (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland) were selected as Scholar All-America Honorable Mentions for achieving a GPA of 3.5 or higher, qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championships and hitting a NCAA “B” time standard.
Dan Simon (Harrison City, PA/Penn Trafford) also earned an individual scholar award. He was chosen to the All-America First Team for having a GPA of 3.5 or higher and competing at the national championships where he earned All-American Honorable Mention status.
