ERIE, Pa.  – Josh Oertly (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) has been named the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Rookie of the Week. It is the first time he has earned the honor.

The freshman had a flawless week, recording 19 kills on 24 attacks with no errors for a .792 hitting percentage. He led the Lions (5-6, 2-3 UVC) to a pair of wins on the week, including a thrilling 3-2 victory over UVC opponent D'Youville in which he totaled seven kills and five blocks. Oertly went 12-for-14 in the 3-0 sweep against Cazenovia on Saturday.

He leads the team in blocks with 31 and is fourth in kills with 61.

Behrend returns to action on Wednesday at Medaille. Match begins at 7 p.m.
