ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend junior Grant Kocher (McMurray, PA/Peters Township) and freshman Tyler Karl (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) have been named the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Athletes of the Week.

Kocher, an outside hitter, was named Player of the Week for leading the Lions (10-10, 3-7 UVC) to a 3-0 win over D'Youville on Thursday. He tallied nine kills, eight digs, two aces and one block. He currently leads the team in kills (211) and digs (103).

Karl, a middle hitter, was selected Rookie of the Week for his performance against the Spartans. The newcomer hit .667 with eight kills on 12 attempts with no errors. He also had a game-high five blocks in the win. Karl is currently first in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) in hitting percentage (.441), while averaging 1.42 kills per set.

Behrend returns to action on Tuesday at Juniata. Match begins at 7 p.m.
