Men's Volleyball Falls in Four to Nazareth in UVC Tourney

ROCHESTER, NY – EJ Wells-Spicer dished out 50 assists and Robert Kraft had 14 kills to lead top-seeded Nazareth over No. 8 Penn State Behrend 3-1 in the quarterfinals of the United Volleyball Conference Tournament on Saturday hosted by the Golden Flyers.

Wells-Spicer, the UVC Player of the Year, helped Nazareth to a 25-22, 26-24, 20-25 and 25-15 victory to improve to 32-1 on the season. The Lions (15-15) also took a game from the Golden Flyers during the regular season.

Grant Kocher (McMurray, PA/Peters Township) and Nathan Steele (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) had nine kills each, while Tyler Karl (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) had six blocks.

After falling in the first two sets by a combined five points, Behrend took a 19-14 lead in the third set. Nazareth came back to tie the game at 20-all, but two kills by Kocher and three attack errors by the Golden Flyers gave the Lions a 25-20 win to keep the game alive.

Evan Fullerton (McMurray, PA/McMurray) handed out 25 assists to go with three digs and two blocks. Ty Sheehan (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) led with nine digs, two kills and one ace.
