Pietropola, Cotton Headline All-AMCC Honors

ERIE, Pa. – Sophomore Mia Pietropola (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) has been named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Swimmer of the Year and freshman Rachel Cotton (Media, PA/Penncrest) earned Diver of the Year, just two of many accolades for the Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team.

Head Coach Jen Wallace mentored the Lions to their eighth conference championship to be named Coach of the Year for the 10th time in her career with both squads.

Pietropola, broke nine records, while winning three individual titles and four relay crowns at the AMCC Championships. She repeated as champion in the 200 IM, 100 and 200 breaststroke to earn first-team All-AMCC, while swimming on four winning relays (200 free, 400 medley, 200 medley and 400 free relays). Pietropola was tied for the highest point scorer at the meet.

Cotton was the AMCC Champion in the three-meter board diving event, posting a score of 390.40 for first-team accolades. She also earned second-team All-Conference in the one-meter diving competition, placing second overall.

Seven more swimmers were named All-Conference, freshman including Gwendolyn Lowery (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte). Lowery was named first-team All-AMCC six times and second team once for her performance at the AMCC Meet. She won the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle, while joining Pietropola in the four winning relays. Lowery also finished runner-up in the 200 IM.

Emma Daghir (St. Marys, PA/Elk County Catholic) was a four-time relay winner to earn first-team All-AMCC and she placed second in the 50 freestyle to be a second-team selection.

Lauren Rosato (Pittsburgh, PA/Chartiers Valley) and Allie Schneider (Erie, PA/McDowell) completed the 400 medley relay that took first place to earn first-team All-Conference. They both swam on the second-place 800 medley relay for second-team honors. Individually, Schneider earned a second-team nod for her runner-up finish in the 200 backstroke.

Freshman Maryn Horn (Houston, TX/Jersey Village) was a three-time All-Conference choice. She picked up two first-team honors in the 200 free and 200 medley relays. She also was second in the 100 backstroke for second-team All-AMCC.

Anna Rose Watterson (Baldwin, PA/Seton-La Salle) had three second-place finishes at the AMCC Championships for second-team honors. She was second in the 500 freestyle and 1650 freestyle, while swimming a leg on the 800 free relay.

Kristin Owens (Erie, PA/McDowell) picked up her first All-Conference awards on the second team for finishing runner up in the 200 butterfly and swimming on the second-place 800 freestyle relay.
