Four Named to All-AMCC Women's Tennis Team

ERIE, Pa. – Four members of the Penn State Behrend women's tennis team have been named to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) All-Conference team and freshman Patra Sangpoompong (Bangkok, Thailand/Erie First Christian Academy) earned Newcomer of the Year award, announced on Wednesday.

Sangpoompong, freshmen Monica Gokhberg (Brooklyn, NY/Leon M. Goldstein), Colleen Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) and Malinda Miller (Champion, PA/Connellsville) were all named to the second team to receive their first All-AMCC honors. Sangpoompong was recognized at No. 2 singles and doubles, while Gokhberg also earned two all-conference honors at No. 1 singles and doubles.  

Sangpoompong led the Lions this season with a 10-1 singles record. She posted a 7-1 at No. singles and tallied a 2-0 mark when she played at the top spot. Sangpoompong also had the best doubles record, going 10-3 overall including 9-2 at the No. 2 spot. She earned AMCC Player of the Week and was undefeated during the AMCC Championships.

Gokhberg plunged into the No. 1 spot in both singles and doubles. She tallied a 9-4 record in singles play, only losing one conference match. In doubles action, she teamed up with Colleen Miller for a 9-5 mark. Gokhberg ended the season on a two-match win streak in both doubles and singles at the conference tournament.

C. Miller was recognized at No. 1 doubles with Gokhberg. She joined Sangpoompong at No. 1 doubles against La Roche for an 8-2 victory. She also combined for a 5-10 singles record, playing at both the second and third position.

Malinda Miller paired up with Sangpoompong at No. 2 doubles. Overall she registered a 10-6 overall doubles mark and 9-6 singles record.

The Lions fell to La Roche in the AMCC Championships, finishing with an 8-8 overall record.
