Women's Track and Field Notches Four Top Five Finishes

ALLIANCE, Oh. – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team had a strong showing, notching four top five finishes Saturday at the Mount Union Invitational.

Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) led the Lions on the day recording two third-place finishes and contributing to a sixth-place finish in the 800m relay. Allen started the day helping the 800m relay squad to a sixth-place finish with a time of 1:55.35. Rachel Pell, (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) Maura Costa, (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) Abby Gilmore (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) and Kati Piger (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock) all pitched in the event.

Allen followed up the 800m relay with a third place finish in the 60m dash carding a time of 7.99. Later in the day she turned in a second third place performance in the 200m dash tallying a time of 26.29.

Katie Manno (Erie, PA/McDowell) started the day for the Lions coming in eighth place in the 3,000m run. Manno paced her way to a time of 11:25.94.

In the 800m run, Gilmore notched a 13th place finish. Gilmore completed the race with a time of 2:37.62.

Costa led the Lions in the pole vault competition cementing a 15th place finish. Costa got up to 2.76m.

A trio of Lions had solid performances in the long jump. Piger took 12th place while Abbi Papale (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) and Allen finished 15th and 16th, respectively. Piger posted 4.53m while Papale leaped to 4.42m. Allen notched 4.40m.

Next up for the squad is the Tiffin Invitational next Saturday. Events start at 10 a.m.
