Women's Track and Field Takes Fourth at Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team took fourth place Saturday at the Westminster Invitational. In a field of 24 teams, the Lions were able to post a team score of 124.50.

Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) had a couple of solid performances in the 100m dash, 200m dash and the 100m hurdles. She qualified for ECAC's in the 100 and 200m running a 12.33 in the 100m, 25.82 in the 200m and 16.51 in the 100m hurdles.

Maura Costa (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) provided an 11th place finish in the in the pole vault. Costa eclipsed a mark of 2.85m.

A trio of Lions picked up 11th, 12th and 13th place finishes in the long jump. Allen led the group in 11th place with a mark of 4.56m. Rachel Pell (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) followed Allen in 12th place, posting 4.49m. In 13th place, Kati Piger (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock) tallied a mark of 4.41m.

Abbi Papale (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) placed 13th in the triple jump competition. She leaped to a distance of 9.68m.

After a strong performance, the Lions will return next weekend for the Cortland Classic in Cortland, NY. The competition will begin Friday with events starting at 4 p.m.
