Women's Track and Field Competes at Carnegie Mellon

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team took fourth place at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational finishing with a team score of 82. Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) led the squad with two victories.

For the second straight week Allen took first in the 100m dash and the 200m dash. Allen posted a times of 13.01 and 26.46 in the 100m and 200m respectively.

Allen also led Behrend in the long jump with a fourth place finish. She was followed by teammates Abbi Papale (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) and Rachel Pell (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) who took fourth and fifth, respectively. Allen posted a mark of 4.69m, Papale contributed 4.51m and Pell tallied 4.50m.

In the triple jump Papale was able to earn a second place finish with a mark of 9.87m.

Maura Costa (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) and Ella Danylko (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) paced the Lions adding fourth and fifth place finishes in the pole vault. Costa posted 2.68m while Danylko followed with 2.38m.

Competing in the 400m hurdles, Pell ran a time of 1:13.39. This earned third place for Pell.

Abby Gilmore (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) and Catherine Fox (Erie, PA/Fairview) picked up a pair of eighth place finished for Behrend. Gilmore took eighth in the 800m dash with a time of 2:37.92 while Fox placed eighth in the 3,000m dash tallying a time of 12:37.21.

The Lions will return to action at Westminster next Saturday. Events will begin at 10 a.m.
