Women's Track and Field Competes at California University

CALIFORNIA, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team opened up outdoor competition Saturday at California University of Pennsylvania.

Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) posted the best finish of the day for the squad taking second place in the 100m run with a time of 12:41. She also notched a seventh place finish in the 200m run. Allen carded a time of 25.54.

The 4x100m relay team produced a seventh place finish in their opening competition of the season. Allen, Kati Piger, (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock) Rachel Pell (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock) and Maura Costa (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) combined to run a time of 52.34.

Pell and Costa both added a tenth place finish. Pell tallied a time of 1:14.40 in the 400m hurdles while Costa eclipsed 2.75m in the pole vault competition.

Abbi Papale (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) jumped her way to a tenth place finish in the triple jump putting up 9.62m. Papale finished one sport behind Piger in the long jump. Piger took 13th and Papale finished 14th. Piger sprung for 4.64m and Papale leapt for 4.57m.

The squad returns to action next Saturday at Defiance in Alliance, Ohio. The day will kick-off at 10 a.m.
