Women's Tack & Field Compete at SPIRE

GENEVA, OH – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team competed at SPIRE Saturday, an event hosted by Carnegie Mellon.

The day was highlighted by a new school record in the 60m hurdles as well as a first place finish in the 60m dash and 4x400 relay.

Rachel Pell (Eilizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) competed in the 60m hurdles, finishing in fifth place while setting the new school record with a 9.73 time. Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) sprinted her way to a first place finish in the 60m dash, bringing home a time of 7.98.

Allen also competed in the 200m run, capturing third place after running a time of 26.38. She also was part of the 4x400 which finished first with a time of 4:05.54. Ashlyn Carlsson (Butler, PA/Knoch), Gabriella Loeffler (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) and Pell were also a part of the 4x400 first-place team.

In all, the Lions had eight top 10 finishes throughout the day.

On the field side, Haley Yenchik (Cecil, PA/Canon McMillan) finished fourth in the pole vault after posting a height of 3.41m (11'2"). Loeffler finished just behind Yenchik, vaulting to a height of 3.35m (11'0").

In distance, Riley Crissman (Bradford, PA/Bradford Area) finished with a 19:12.3 time in the 5000m run to capture eighth place.

Katelyn Hancock (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) competed in the 800m run. She posted a 2:27.37 time which gave her a fourth place finish.

The Lions will be back in action on Saturday, January 21, when they compete in the Brockport Meet beginning at 10 a.m.
