Women's Track and Field Competes at Home Meet

ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team competed at their home meet Saturday afternoon.

Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) and Myeisha Sanders (Erie, PA/East) both won three events throughout the afternoon.

Allen won the 100 and 200 meter dashes as well as the long jump. She crossed the finish in 12.63 and 26.20 seconds and then jump 4.87 meters in the long jump.

In the shot put, Sanders tossed 9.96 meters to take first and then won the discus and hammer throw events with distances of 33.39 and 30.08 meters, respectively.

Rachel Pell (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) also had a great day, coming in first in both the 400 meter race as well as the 100 meters hurdles with times of 1:01.35 and 16.54, respectively. She placed third in the 200 meter dash after a time of 27.60. On the field side, Pell took second in the high jump with a 1.30 meter mark. Allen came in behind her for third place.

Katelyn Hancock (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) won the 400 meter hurdles in 16.54 seconds and then placed second in the 400 meter race after crosses just .4 seconds behind Pell with a time of 1:01.72. She also took second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.12.

Jenn Shelton (Cabot, PA/Knoch) and Riley Crissman (Bradford, PA/Bradford Area) took second and third in the 5000 meter run with times of 18:49.81 and 18:51.28.

Haley Yenchik (Cecil, PA/Canon McMillan) took third in the pole vault with a height of 3.20 meters. She then took third in the javelin after a throw of 17.98 meters.

Danielle Williams (Corey, PA/Corey) won the javelin after posting a distance of 22.85 meters.

Behrend will be back in action next Saturday when they travel to Ashland for an 11 a.m. start.
