Women's Track & Field Places Third at ECAC Outdoor Championships; Highest Finish in Program History

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Penn State Behrend women's outdoor track & field team recorded their highest finish in program history at the 2017 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships, taking third overall with a team score of 75.

The Lions took home the bronze medal with three school records and two ECAC Champions on day two of the competition. Misericordia won the championship with 101 points and Moravian placed second with 84.

Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) repeated as champion in the 200m with a school and personal record time of 24.39. She also was fourth in the 100m finals in 12.24 to earn her All-ECAC in both events.

The women's 4x800 relay team of Courtney Sargent (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy), Caitlin Plazony (Fairview, PA/Fairview), Jenna Shelton (Cabot, PA/Knoch) and Katelyn Hancock (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) were ECAC Champions with a new school record time of 9:35.17.

The third school record was broken in the 4x100 relay team that took second place with a time of 48.39 thanks to Allen, Haley Yenchik (Cecil, PA/Canon McMillan), Ashlyn Carlsson (Butler, PA/Knoch) and Rachel Pell (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward).

Hancock led Behrend in the 800m, setting a new personal record of 2:15.44 for the silver medal. In addition to the 4x100 relay, Pell placed third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 63.33 and fourth in the 100m hurdles in 15.62.
