Women's Track and Field Compete at Carnegie Mellon Quad Meet

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team competed Saturday afternoon at the Carnegie Mellon Quad Meet, placing second as a team with 157 points

The Lions 4x100 team consisting of Haley Yenchik (Cecil, PA/Canon McMillan), Rachel Pell (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward), Ashlyn Carlsson (Butler, PA/Knoch), and Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) took first place with a time of 50.88.

Behrend had five of the top six finishes in the 1500 meter race, including a first-place finish from Katelyn Hancock (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) who had a time of 4:54.95. She then placed third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:27.01.

Yenchik came in third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.17 seconds.

Allen went on to win the 200 and 400 meter races. She finished the 200 meter race in a time of 26.72 and then crossed the finish line in 1:01.48 in the 400. Carlsson came in behind her with a time of 1:04.58.

Pell and Carlsson rounded out the top five in the 200 meter dash, placing fourth and fifth, respectively, with times of 28.40 and 28.92.

Pell finished first in the 100 and 400 meter hurdles. Her time of 16.63 gave her first in the 100 while she finished three seconds faster than the second place finisher in the 400 with a time of 1:06. 93.

Becca Worley (Townville, PA/Maplewood) had a third-place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase after crossing the finish in 13:06.17.

On the field side, Yenchik and Allen both placed in the long jump with distances of 4.75 meters (15'7") and 4.69 (15'4.75"), respectively.

Myeisha Sanders (Erie, PA/East) finished first in the discus with a distance of 34.09 (111'10"). She then had a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw after posting a distance of 28.51 meters (93'06") and placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of

8.96 meters (29'4.75").

Gabriella Loeffler (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) picked up a fourth-place finish in the javelin after posting a 22.06 (72'4") meter throw.

The Lions will be back in action next friday and saturday when they compete in the Mount Union Invitational.
