Behrend Competes at Bomber Invite

ITHACA, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team competed at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational Saturday afternoon.

The Lions had three top-10 finishes in the pole vault. Haley Yenchik (Cecil, PA/Canon McMillan) tied for fifth after vaulting 3.46 meters (11'4.25"), Gabriella Loeffler (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) came in seventh place with a height of 3.26 meters (10'8.25") and Maura Costa (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) tied for 10th after a new personal-best vault of 3.06 meters (10'0.50").

Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) had two top 10 individual finishes on the day. She took third in the 60 meter dash after crossing the line in 7.93 seconds. She then competed in the 200 meter dash where a time of 26.73 gave her sixth place.

Allen was also part of the 4x200 relay team that qualified for ECACs today. Ashlyn Carlsson (Butler, PA/Knoch), Allen, Loeffler, and Yenchik teamed up for a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:46.92.

Junior Rachel Pell (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) broke the school record in the 500 meter dash for the third consecutive week. She came in fourth place after sprinting to a time of 1:20.35.

Behrend had two top-10 finishers in the 1000 meter run. Katelyn Hancock (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) and Jenna Shelton (Cabot, PA/Knoch) came in ninth and 10th, respectively. Hancock posted a time of 3:12.19 while Shelton came in just one second behind with a time of 3:13.15.

The Lions will compete again next weekend when they travel to Tiffin for the Dragon Open beginning at 12 p.m.
