Women's Volleyball Hosts La Roche in AMCC First Round

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team clinched the No. 4 seed for the upcoming Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament and will host No. 5 La Roche for a first-round game on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The Lions (14-14, 6-3 AMCC) have advanced to the AMCC Tournament every year since the inception of the conference in 1997. Behrend is looking for its second title in there years and fourth overall for the program.

The other first-round game features No. 6 Mt. Aloysius at No. 3 Franciscan. The winner of Behrend/La Roche will travel to No. 1 Medaille and play the Mavericks in the semifinals on Saturday at 2 p.m. Penn State Altoona also received a bye and the No. 2 seed, securing a spot in the semifinals.

The title game is slated for Sunday at 1 p.m. The champion will earn the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The Lions defeated La Roche 3-0 during the regular season (25-12, 25-19, 25-17). Paige Scurpa posted a double-double with 15 kills and 14 digs. The Lions have won 11 straight matches against the Redhawks.
