Phillips Named AMCC Co-Player of the Year; Four Named All-Conference

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team had four players named to the 2022 All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Team, while junior Hannah Phillips (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) was named Co-Player of the Year.  

Phillips was also named to the first team. Seniors Brooke Joncas (Corry, PA/Corry), Sarah Cole (Jackson Center, PA/Lakeview) were selected to the second team, and Meg Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) landed on the third team. Phillips, Joncas and Cole are making their second appearance on the All-Conference Team.

Phillips has played in six rotations as both the outside and right-side hitter this season. She ranks first in the AMCC in kills/set (3.51), total kills (333), and points/set (4.0). Phillips also ranks sixth in attack percentage (.235). She is second on the team in digs (267) and in service aces (26). Phillips has 12 double-doubles this season, knocking down a season-best 22 kills against Grove City and a season-high 22 digs vs. Geneva.

Joncas, an outside hitter, is fourth in the AMCC in kills per set (3.11), and sixth in points per set (3.6). She leads the team with 29 service aces and is fourth in kills (274). Joncas had 16 double-digit kill matches, including a season-best 21 kills against Penn State Altoona. At La Roche, she managed a career-high 24 digs to go with 15 kills for her second double-double of the season.

Cole, a middle hitter, ranks second in the conference in attack percentage in both overall and conference-only matches at .285. She returned from a broken leg suffered in the 2021 AMCC championship match to be selected to the second team for a second straight year. Cole tallied a season-high 12 kills on two occasions and registered multiple blocks in 10 total matches.

Goodsel is earning her first All-Conference accolades as a junior. She was one of two setters in a 6-2 offense most of the season but switched to the primary setter in a 5-1 late in the season. Goodsel ranks fourth overall in the AMCC in assists/set (5.96) and total assists (578). She had double-digit assists in all but six matches, dishing out a career-high 57 assists vs. Penn State Altoona. Goodsel registered a pair of double-doubles thanks to a career-high 21 digs vs. Hiram to go with 29 assists.
