ERIE, Pa. – For the sixth straight year, Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team has earned the United State Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award.
The women are receiving this honor for the eighth time overall in program history. This season, the Lions finished runners up in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships and advanced to the ECAC Tournament. Behrend had four players named to the All-AMCC squad, including Player of the Year in Hannah Phillips (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny). Head coach Phil Pisano garnered his eighth Coach of the Year honors.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
