Lions Sit in Ninth Place at Guy W. Kuhn Invitational

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team sits in ninth place out of 19 teams after the first day of the Guy W. Kuhn Invitational held at The Meadville Country Club on Sunday.

The Lions shot a 314 as a squad, marking their second lowest score this fall season. Wittenberg is currently in first place with a score f 295 and Rochester is in second with a 304. Wooster is two strokes behind in third with a 306.

Kevin Koerbel (Gibsonia, PA/Deer Lakes) and Scott Klein (Erie, PA/Fairview) were one stroke apart, yet eight places are between them. Koerbel, a veteran of the par 72 course, led with a 76 to tie for 14th overall, shooting a 39-37. Klein had the best back nine round for Behrend with a 35 and had a 42 on the front nine for a 77, good enough to tie for 22nd place.

Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) tied for 44th out of 104 golfers. He shot a team-best 38 on the first nine holes and then carded a 42 for a total of 80. Matt Gurska (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) fired a 40-41 to tie for 52nd with a score of 81.

Dan Corbin (Mt. Lebanon, PA/Mt. Lebanon) rounded out the Lions' top five, shooting an 84 (45-39).

Behrend returns to action tomorrow for day two of the invitational. Tee times being at 8:30 a.m.
