Men's Golf Leads After Day One of AMCC Championships

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team sits in first place with a team-low score of 301 after the first day of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Men's Golf Championships at Oak Tree Country Club on Sunday.

The Lions shot their second-best score for one day at the AMCC Championships in program history to take the lead.  La Roche is in second place with a 307 total, while Pitt-Bradford is in third with a 315.

All five golfers for Behrend finished in the Top 10. Scott Klein (Erie, PA/Fairview) has the lowest score for the Lions, placing second with a 74 for the course. Zach Polanski (Erie, PA/McDowell) tied for third, scoring a 75.

Newcomers Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) and Matt Gurska (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) tied for fifth place. They both carded a 76 on the day.

Kevin Koerbel (Gibsonia, PA/Deer Lakes) was one stroke away from the two freshmen, carding a 77 to tie for eighth place.

The Lions return to action tomorrow for the final day of the championships.
