Golfers Take Second at Edward Jones Shootout

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – After finishing in second place on day one of the Edward Jones Shootout, the Penn State Behrend men's golf team earned a two-day score of 609 to take second overall on Sunday afternoon.

The Lions took one stroke off their total from day one to card a 304, thanks to all five golfers shooting in the 70's led by Matt Gurska (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) with a team-best 75.

Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) had the best two-day score for Behrend, finishing with a 150 to tie for fifth overall. The freshman carded a 76 on the day. Gurska was one stroke behind Vetica with a 151 total.

Kevin Koerbel (Gibsonia, PA/Deer Lakes) was third on the team and tied for 11th overall. He shot a 78 on day two to round out the tournament with a 153. Zach Polanski (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) improved three spots in the standings after day one to tie for 17th with a 156. He tied Vetica with a round of 76 today.

Scott Klein (Erie, PA/Fairview) shaved four strokes off yesterday's score to earn a 77 and a total of 158, tying for 24th.

The Lions return to action on Saturday against Mercyhurst.
