Lions Finish Second at Fall Invitational; Edged in Tiebreaker

NORTH EAST, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team tied its season-best score of 311 to finish second out of nine teams at their fall invitational held at the Lake View Country Club on Tuesday.

Coming off their best rounds at Allegheny, the Lions tied for first place with La Roche but lost the Redhawks in a tiebreaker. Kevin Loutsenhizer carded a 71 to win the individual medalist honors for La Roche to determine the tiebreaker, giving the Redhawks the first-place trophy.

Matt Gurska (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) keeps improving on his best round of 18 since he got to Behrend, shooting an even par for his season-low score of 72 to finish second overall.

Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) was second on the team with a 78, while Kevin Koerbel (Gibsonia, PA/Deer Lakes) shot an 81 on the day. Alec Italiano (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) finished fourth on the squad with an 80 and Dan Corbin (Mt. Lebanon, PA/Mt. Lebanon) was fifth with an 89.

Two individuals for the Lions shot under 80. Dean Rainville (Erie, PA/McDowell) and AJ Pinto (Erie, PA/McDowell) shot a 78 and 79 respectively.  Dan L'Herbier (Gibsonia, PA/Deer Lakes) also competed as an individual, carding an 84.

The Lions return to action on Saturday at the Medaille Invitational. Tee time is 11 a.m.
